Australia, 15 May 2023: Select, a leader in specialist rail plant, announced that its innovative Matisa B 35 C Tamper has arrived, ready to revolutionise track maintenance.
The Tamper uses advanced technology to improve track maintenance efficiency and reduce downtime. It is compact and equipped with a tri-gauge convertible feature making it suitable for most major networks in Australia. The Tamper has the latest Matisa “NEMO” optical measuring base technology for levelling and lining measurement.
The technology fitted to this machine ensures high accuracy and machine reliability regardless of the external environmental factors such as wind, vibration and dust that it may face.
In addition, the tamper has been fitted with lift cylinders to remove the need for cranes when loading to a float and carrying out gauge conversion. All components requiring modification have been designed for easy removal or replacement.
The tamper will be added to Select’s expanding range of specialist rail fleet and will assist with the growing scope of work being delivered in Australia.
"We are thrilled to see the new tamper arrive at the depot," said Nathan Mitschuinig, Select’s Business Unit Leader. "Our investment in innovative, purposeful technology demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with the best possible solutions."
Laing O’Rourke’s Rail Operations business unit will be the first to use it on West Australian projects.
“We are excited to have worked together with Select to bring only the second Matisa B35C to Australian shores,” says Mark Fletcher, Rail Operations Business Unit Leader. “The flexibility and ease of gauge conversion are perfect for Australian Rail networks. The machine will initially be deployed on METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line and other Perth Metro projects.”
