About our business
Our parent company Laing O’Rourke is fast becoming the recognised leader for sustainability, innovation and excellence in construction.
Similarly, Select Plant Australia has a powerful focus on the people we work with and on the quality and sustainability of the work done by our organisation and by its clients.
Select was originally formed as an internal plant supply company for the R.O'Rourke and Sons business in the UK.
The company's original, primary driver was to guarantee the provision of the highest quality plant and associated services to O'Rourke construction projects.
As Laing O'Rourke grew into one of the world's largest, privately-owned construction companies, Select Plant Hire mirrored the growth of the parent company, servicing a larger portfolio of projects, both in numbers and complexity.
In 2007, Select began operations in Australia and the Middle East to further support Laing O'Rourke's international project delivery capability.
Select Plant Australia is the only total solutions provider within the plant sector. We continue to grow and maintain one of the world’s broadest plant ranges and capabilities.
We strive to attract and develop the sector’s best people who then go on to deliver engineering innovation, project leadership and certainty for our clients.
Doing the right thing: Our Global Code of Conduct
We will only retain our excellent reputation for safety and quality if we continue to generate positive value for all stakeholders.
Our goal, to become a leader in construction innovation, excellence and sustainability, requires us to continue to build on our reputation. This includes doing business the right way, but not at any price.
We expect everybody directly employed by Select Plant Australia to follow our Global Code of Conduct, one that is shared with our parent company Laing O’Rourke.
We also require anybody acting or working on our behalf, such as consultants, partners, affiliates, sub-contractors and suppliers, to follow and uphold the intent of the Code’s standards.
As the Code is a commitment to upholding the human rights of everybody working with us, we think this will have a powerfully positive effect.
